CHCP announces new ophthalmology certificate program to train the next generation of ophthalmology assistants

The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) Fort Worth campus announced it has launched a new Ophthalmic Assistant Program program to train the next generation of ophthalmology assistants. This program was designed in response to high demand and direct requests from local Texas employers, including Jackie Williams, clinical practice manager at UT Southwestern Medical Center. 

Upon graduation, students will be prepared to sit for the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant examination administered by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO). Certified ophthalmic assistants can later earn more specialized certifications to advance their careers.
