Christopher J. Eaton Memorial Scholarship Awarded to CHCP Student

Anna Lucio, a student from the College of Health Care Professions in Houston, TX has been awarded the $5,000 Christopher J. Eaton Memorial Scholarship by ABHES. She was among 48 nominees from across the country to be nominated, but her determination and perseverance is what made her shine.

Before enrolling to CHCP, Anna, had some tough bumps along the road. She was laid off from her job due to medical issues, and then lost both her grandmother and mother to cancer. She was left hopeless and contemplating whether she could have done anything different. But after much consulting with family, she decided to take a chance and follow her dream to work in the medical field.

Despite it being 17 years since she had last been in a classroom setting she began her journey. Anna is enrolled in the Limited Radiology Technologist (LMRT) program, she plans to use that knowledge to become a Radiologic Technologist. She was attracted to the program because it gives her the opportunity to interact with patients directly and assist the doctors in making a diagnosis.

Anna has become an inspiration for her daughter and younger peers in the classroom to show that with perseverance, dedication and a positive attitude one can accomplish their goals.
