Rice Study: Impact Study on Hispanic Students

Rice University Finds Comparatively High Student Success Rates Among Hispanic/LatinX CHCP Students

The Impact Study on Hispanic Students evaluated students enrolled in any CHCP program between 2012 and 2018. Other results and data can vary depending on variable factors.

Dr. Adem Ekmekci, the director of research for Rice University School Mathematics Project, and Alican Odemis, RUSMP graduate assistant and a doctoral student at Rice's department of Economics, are publishing a study on the role of The College of Health Care Professions in helping Hispanic students to develop the skills needed to meet the demands of the healthcare industry.

Student population demographics: 57% Hispanic

Graduation rate for Hispanic students who were admitted to a CHCP program between 2012 and 2018 was 78%

Hear from our students!

Through offering the ability to stack credits and career services, we strive to create educational opportunities that people can readily access. Our programs were designed to help prepare students to work in the healthcare field faster than if they attended a traditional four-year university.

The following link connects to a research study completed by Rice University School Mathematics Project titled The College of Health Care Professions: Impact on Hispanic Students. The study was funded by two community foundations unrelated to CHCP, which examined education and employment outcomes among approximately 6,400 Hispanic students enrolled at the College of Health Care Professions between 2012 and 2018. Aside from providing some of the underlying data, CHCP had no role in developing the methodologies used in the study, the evaluation of data, outcomes, or conclusions presented in this report. By clicking on this link, you acknowledge that: 1) this report was prepared by Rice University (not CHCP) and describes the researchers’ conclusions based their own independent research of the data provided; 2) the study’s conclusions and observations described in this report relate only to a subset of students enrolled from 2012-2018; and 3) these prior outcomes do not guarantee any compensation, employment, or graduation outcomes for current or future students.
