This week, The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP)’s Chancellor Eric Bing began his work on the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Commission on the American Workforce as a member of the Postsecondary Pathways Working Group. This national initiative, co-chaired by former Governors Bill Haslam (R-TN) and Deval Patrick (D-MA), brings together leaders from education, business, and policy to develop a bipartisan strategy for strengthening the workforce and expanding economic opportunity across the country.

“As an institution committed to democratizing access to healthcare careers, CHCP understands the urgent need to align education with workforce demands,” said Eric Bing, Chancellor of CHCP. “I am honored to be a part of this initiative and work alongside leaders dedicated to closing workforce gaps, increasing career pathways, and ensuring more Americans have access to high-quality education and job opportunities.”

The Commission on the American Workforce will focus on key challenges impacting the U.S. labor market, including postsecondary education pathways, workforce shortages, and worker support systems. With more than 1 million unfilled job openings and a growing demand for skilled professionals—especially in healthcare—this effort comes at a critical time. The commission’s recommendations will inform national workforce policy and guide future legislative efforts. Through his participation, Chancellor Bing will contribute insights on how innovative workforce training programs can help bridge the gap between education and employment.
