Want to contribute to helping others get the medical care they need? An Associate of Applied Science degree in Cardiovascular Sonography from the College of Health Care Professions is designed to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to pursue a career in medical imaging as a cardiovascular sonographer.

As a cardiovascular sonographer, you’ll be charged with ensuring the quality of echocardiograms, helping doctors and medical specialists see if heart valves, chambers and muscle contractions are working properly, and revealing any potential issues. CHCP’s program emphasizes understanding and exploring ultrasound physics, cardiac and vascular pathology, M-mode and Doppler modalities, anatomy, and more. The associate degree program is designed to help prepare you to take the Cardiovascular Credentialing International Exam and pursue entry-level echocardiography positions.

As with all healthcare career fields, demand for these trained and certified medical professionals is high. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job openings for diagnostic medical sonographers, cardiovascular technologists and technicians are projected to grow 14 percent by 2030, a faster than the average pace across all career fields.
