With surgical technologist training from CHCP, you will be prepared to take the certification exam to become a surgical technologist. As a surgical technologist, you can assist surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses with various surgical procedures. The College of Health Care Professions takes an extremely hands-on approach to teaching, offering lectures, labs, and clinical practice to students so that their surgical technologist training is anything but boring. Surgical technologist jobs are expected to grow 12% from 2016 and 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics*.

During surgery, technologists assist surgeons through the sterilization of equipment, cutting sutures, holding and passing tools, and operating vital equipment, among numerous other responsibilities. Surgical technologists enjoy a clean, cool, well-lit environment, but must become accustomed to standing for long periods of time.  There are many career path advancement opportunities available for proficient surgical technologists.
