Nothing makes us prouder than watching our students go through their programs and become successful in their new health care careers. Read below about a CHCP Fort Worth student’s experience in the Medical Assisting program and after.
I am writing to you to let you know the results of my RMA exam this morning. I passed my exam with a 93! I was so happy! I just wanted to tell you thank you for all your great teaching and your tenacity for how we should always be professional in the classroom. It REALLY helped me not only during this exam and preparation for the exam, but on the site for my externship as well. I'm thankful you maintained a professional attitude and expected nothing less from us as students because it is most beneficial to be in that mode prior to ever being in a medical environment.
My externship site really helped tie in everything we learned in class and I realized this after having daily hands on with checking in patients, verifying insurance benefits, taking vitals with a patient, discussing patient histories, and working in the lab! Drawing blood was what I considered one of my weaknesses, but I quickly found out I was only apprehensive because I did not want to fail. After drawing blood every day for about 2-3 hours in the mornings at the office, I am no longer apprehensive and have a very high success rate! Externship is MOST essential to taking the RMA or CMA exam as I learned so much about ICD-9 and CPT codes while working in the lab.
My experience overall is completely INVALUABLE to me and I'm so glad I made that first call to CHCP and went to visit with Pat to get my career started!! Thank you again, Ms. Williams, and I hope that you continue to produce high quality professionals that may even some day work with me!
The College of Health Care Professions, CHCP, also offers a variety of other programs including medical assisting, nursing, and more. Read more about CHCP programs available at ground campuses and online.
